Where to ask questions regarding confidential "units"?

Shotgun SG

I wanna find out about some of these “unit/departments”, and I dun really think asking abt them here is gonna be of help. Any one knows of other channels to find out more about them? Interested in seeking future employment with them.

Ask Mindef? Laughing

dragg SG

ask confidential people.

LazerLordz SG

If you have friends in those units, ask them.If not, it's better to approach the Army Recruitment Center.

Some things cannot be discussed on a public forum for obvious reasons.

Cheers. Smile

well. what you and i can all find out about such units that are in open source, that's it. even if you approach these units personally, that's all they can point you to too.

btw, why do you want to ask?

Shotgun SG

Its definitely not open source, and army recruitment centre doesnt handle them. So thats why i am wondering if there are other channels to make inquiries…

LazerLordz SG

Some will look for you, instead of you looking for them. Laughing

what are the confidential units?

Shotgun SG

hah, i know what u mean by that. But i wanted to finish up my diploma before joining them. At that juncture, they did not give me that option, and wished me all the best for my studies. LOL!

LazerLordz SG

Try contacting the person who contacted you? Laughing

sgFish SG

wa where you want to go? JID ah? Shocked

Shotgun SG

JID? That one u can pick up the recruitment brochure at CMPB if u are interested though.

sgFish SG

ahahaha, nah not really interested. "directorate" sounds cool though >.<

wuming78 SG

like i said, if its not open source, then u probably are not entitled to know it - the only info the public should know is wat is available from open source.

If u like to seek future employment with the “confidential Units”, maybe u like to ask wat are some of the confidential vocation that are offered to the serviceman. I believe if u are going for ur BMT soon, u can check with the recruitment officers will be coming for ur company, will be able to provide more information then.

Shotgun SG

Oh no, i’m done with my NS liabilities already. Just considering future career options. besides, worse to worse, I become a teacher. lol!

LazerLordz SG

Ah.

babymac13 SG

Wat vocation ru interested in?
or rather wat industry in army do u like to venture in?

Shotgun SG

Hmm, I don’t think its appropriate to mention here lar. Anyways, I was just trying my like to see if there are any channels that may be available. Any one with information please PM me. Thanks. =D

Maybe I can help... without breaching confidentiality rules. You first have to determine what branch of the SAF you want to serve in. The reason is that if it is the air force, you are likely to encounter more "specialised " units. I can say this with some experience , as I served in one as a reservist.

The army is less likely to accept you coming in from outside and requesting to join XXXX unit. They are likely to recruit from other units and when you have served some time ( e.g. 2nd year as NSF or you are about to ORD).

You have better chance volunteering as a regular in the RSAF and RSN and serving with a specialised unit, than in the Army. Or if you have a special civilian skill and you get selected as a reservist in these specialised units.
